Our Volunteers help with:

  • actively engaging with vulnerable members of the community
  • supporting Safe and Well Checks
  • assisting with public safety events and fire safety talks
  • helping with intervention and education initiatives
  • working with other organisations to reduce the number of traffic collisions
  • supporting firefighters training

“As the Chief Fire Officer of Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS), I cannot easily explain how proud I am of our volunteers, all of whom are an essential part of how we keep our communities in both Counties safe from fire and other emergencies.  

If this is something you are interested in then please don’t worry, we won’t be asking you to go into fires, climb ladders or got to road traffic collisions, but we are looking for a wide range of people from all backgrounds and ages who can help us in engaging with our communities, supporting operational training events with firefighters and deliver training and support at our events.  

If you have some time to spare and want to feel part of a well-respected and highly trained team of Fire Service staff then we would love to hear from you. We will provide you with full training, support and a uniform which will enable you to work alongside full-time Fire Service staff and other passionate volunteers.  

Whatever your background or experience we welcome you becoming part of our team.  Our Volunteers make a massive difference to the communities of both Counties and whilst you may not respond in a fire engine I can assure you that the work you will do as a member of HWFRS will make people safer, prevent accidents and emergencies and will save lives.”

Our Community Volunteers are ordinary people from all walks of life who want to actively make a difference within their local community, helping to reduce the risk to those most at risk.
