Not many Guide Dogs will have been named after a fire engine.
So it was something of a novelty when Dennis the puppy met one of our spare Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service Dennis appliances.
For the 11-month-old was sponsored via the Guide Dogs’ Name a Puppy scheme by the Waterside Christmas Fire Engine community fundraiser in the Southampton area.
Waterside’s Dennis appliance is used at Christmas time, dressed up with lights and Santa Claus, to raise money for a number of charities.
Meanwhile, four-legged friend Dennis will go on to make an enormous difference for someone living with sight loss through the Guide Dogs organisation when he finishes training with his puppy raiser Joy Flanagan in Worcestershire next month.
