Peterchurch Fire Station is hosting an on-call recruitment drive at its first open day in four years on Sunday 16 July.
There will be plenty to entertain all ages from 10am until 2pm including demonstrations of the fire house and dealing with a road traffic collision and a chip pan fire.
Visitors aged over 18 who work or live within five minutes of the Valley View Road station can get an insight into becoming an on-call firefighter at Peterchurch.
There will also be a demonstration of the water carrier, which can carry 9,000 litres, alongside a barbecue, refreshments and much more.
Anyone who would like to run a craft stall at the open day is also most welcome in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Watch Commander Kevin Giles said: “Our open day had been an annual event but Covid put a stop to it and this will be our first in four years.
“They have been very popular. I’m also trying to get the aerial ladder platform over from Hereford so there could be some rescues from the tower.”
A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service on-call recruitment officer will be there to help advise potential future firefighters.
Entry to the open day is free as is any fire safety advice.
