The Fire Fighters Charity

The Fire Fighters Charity was established during the Second World War for Auxiliary and National Fire Service members and their families.

Today, The Fire Fighters Charity is a modern, dynamic, award-winning charity that supports serving and retired personnel, their surviving spouses and young dependents. The charity mainly provides sheltered accommodation, recuperative facilities, rehabilitation and therapy, in addition to financial support for those who need it.

The charity has three UK centres in Devon, Cumbria and West Sussex, in addition to its headquarters in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Around 11,000 people receive help every year. Recent initiatives include the Child & Family Programme to enhance the quality of life of Fire Service families who have a child with an illness or disability.

The charity’s services cost upwards of £9m per annum to maintain and are financed almost exclusively through fundraising.
