'Fownhope fire Station covers an area of approximately 32 square miles, with its population living in small villages scattered across a largely rural area. In 1939 Fownhope Fire Station was based at Walworth House and had two sisters who volunteered as firefighters. It is thought that the sisters were the first female firefighters in the village and it wasn’t until 60 years later that another female joined their firefighting team.'

Fownhope Fire Station covers an area of approximately 32 square miles, with the population living in small villages scattered across a largely rural area. The station is based in Fownhope and is close to the city of Hereford, with Ledbury to the east and Ross-on-Wye to the south.
Fownhope Fire Station is an on-call fire station, so is staffed solely by on-call firefighters, who respond to emergency calls whenever they are needed.
The station has a MAN fire engine, which is a first-line attack engine, carrying a crew of up to six firefighters along with firefighting and rescue equipment.
On-call drill nights are held at the Fire Station every Tuesday commencing at 7:00pm.
