Request

Good afternoon X, I hope this finds you well.

I’m hoping that you can help me out with a couple of requests for information. If this is not within your remit can you please forward this email on to whoever can assist?

  • 1. Numbers of members (not names) currently off work for over 6 months, with a reduction in fire and rescue service pay, as a consequence of mental-ill health not directly attributable to fire service duties.
  • 2. Numbers of members (not names) currently off work for over 6 months, with a reduction in fire and rescue service pay, as a consequence of cancer not directly attributable to fire service duties.

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Response

Good Morning X

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your request for information which was received by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (the Service) and considered under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 back in April. Your FOI reference is: FOI 106 04 23

The answers to your questions are:

  1. 1. Numbers of members (not names) currently off work for over 6 months, with a reduction in fire and rescue service pay, as a consequence of mental-ill health not directly attributable to fire service duties. Two employees are off under the 6 month/reduction in pay criteria, however, one has stress at work (fire service) on the fit note and the other is anxiety on the fit note but I know it is linked to triggers about attending the fire station. I’ll leave it up to you as to whether you feel that they are classed as being off directly attributable to FS duties.

2. Numbers of members (not names) currently off work for over 6 months, with a reduction in fire and rescue service pay, as a consequence of cancer not directly attributable to fire service duties. One employee is off under this criteria. As far as we are aware, it is not directly attributable to FS duties.

In respect of your other two questions:

    1. We currently have 7 people off LTS and over 6 months (this includes the 3 above).
    2. All 7 are either on half pay or nil pay.

Should you have any queries regarding the management of your request and wish to make either a complaint or request a review of the information disclosed to you, please do so by using Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s complaints system: Comments and Complaints.
