Request
I would like to know how many call outs there have been to attend stranded vehicles at the ford on Walcott Lane, Drakes Broughton in the last 2 years.
How much has cost the fire authority and is the money claimed back from the individuals being rescued?
Regards
Response
Dear X,
Thank you for your request for incident information which has been received by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (the Service) and considered under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.
The Service can confirm the requested incident information is held. Please find the following answers below:
- During the last two years (01/04/2021 – 31/03/2023), the Service attended 5 incidents at Walcott Lane, Drakes Broughton; all of these incidents were classified as Rescues from water.
- The Service does not cost individual incident responses, however the Fees and Charges set are based on the average cost of deploying an appliance and crew for an hour. For 2023/24 this is £330 including VAT (£314 for 2023/24). In case of the incidents mentioned above, none of them resulted in issuing an invoice.
The incident report is not intended to be a line by line account of the incident but a report collated for statistical purposes produced for the Home Office detailing our attendance and initial impressions by the officer in charge. Details of the Incident Commander’s initial impressions are selected from a limited range of options available, which may or may not cover the exact circumstances of each case. This information is included within the report but it should be noted that the information is not based on a detailed investigation and should not be relied upon as evidence.
