If possible, could you please update my request and provide the following more detailed information (if known)
- Number of fire incidents attended by your service involving people living with dementia in the years 2023, 2022, and 2021
- The above broken down into actual fire incidents and false alarms
- Number of deaths from fire related incidents for people living with dementia 2023, 2022, and 2021
As outlined in my initial email, I am also interested in any strategy or policies you have around dementia and would be grateful if you could share any of these with me.

Thank you for your request for information, which has been received by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (the Service) and considered under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000.
The Service can confirm that the answers to your questions are as below:
Initial Request:
The details below have only considered our Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV) information when answering the request:
- No policies or strategies in place as such.
- We do have Dementia Friends within the Prevention team – Technicians and Safeguarding & Signposting Leads are all trained.
- We have a question on the HFSV: Does anyone in the property require assistance to vacate the property?
- Record occupiers with dementia with Fire Control to assist with operational response.
- We signpost to:
Early Intervention dementia Services
Alzheimer’s Society
Advise to contact GP
Refer to Age UK – Both Counties
Refer to Dementia Wellbeing Service – Both Counties
- Our volunteers attend Dementia Cafes across both Counties
